Community Reconnection

These projects are the result of working into a dense urban fabric within New York City. Set within the Brooklyn neighborhood of DUMBO (Down Under the Manhattan Bridge Overpass), the tower itself intervenes itself into this fabric, splitting and carving open space between two residential space towers. These carved open spaces provide community engagement and connection. The tower itself is composed of hotel space, theater space, service and core spaces and restaurant space. By splitting the common spaces between the lower level of the lobby space and the restaurant space, the outdoor plinth space becomes held and locked into the context, providing views towards the water and continuing the existing park datum through Brooklyn.
