Materiality in
the Florida Landscape

The Florida Landscape is an exploration of the contextual ideas and implication of designing in the flatlands of Florida. The project began as simple intervention in the prairie, emphasizing directionality and a system of markers highlighting the landscape. It was then moved into the tidal landscape of the gulf, and the program evolved to hold a place for fire and cooking, the use of screen, and water arrival and departure. The passage of John Muir became a driver for the itinerary, with each stop becoming a threshold, always looking toward the next place of rest. The project then started surround the ideas of sight, sound and smell as an emphasis of the landscape and this path. Materiality then followed, allowing for these senses to be heightened
